Welcome back, a day later! Yesterday, along with editing this Journal, I put together next season’s agenda, opening and closing dates and important days. Here is a review of the more salient dates. We are opening Barnacle Billy’s (Original) on April 5, 2019 at 11:00 AM, barring any unforeseen weather problems. Original will be closed on Monday, April 8, 2019 until Friday, April 12, 2019 at 11:00 AM. From that time on, we will be open daily until Sunday, October 27, 2019. That last date is the last day of Ogunquitfest Weekend. It has been tradition that we close at the end of Ogunquitfest. Barnacle Billy’s, Etc. opens at 5:00 PM on Thursday, May 2, 2019. Traditionally, we stop serving at Original at the same time that Etc. opens. And this will also be the case on Barnacle Billy’s, Etc’s opening day next season. Etc. will be open daily until November 3, 2019. Until Memorial Weekend, Etc. will be open at noon on Saturday and Sunday only. During the week, Etc. will be open at 5:00 PM, including Fridays. After Saturday, May 25, 2019, Etc. will be open daily at noon until we close on November 3, 2019. My daughter, Halley Adelaide Hatch Tower, if all goes well, will be married on Saturday, November 9, 2019. The reception will be held at Barnacle Billy’s, Etc. on that day/night. dates of note: The Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce will hold its Annual Boston Tea Party reenactment at 6:00 PM on April 13, 2019, adjacent to Barnacle Billy’s Dock that extends off Original’s patio. They will be using the fishing vessel Bunny Clark on the float off Barnacle Billy’s dock with local actors and actresses throwing bales of tea off the bow. In 2016, the weather was perfect. Original’s deck made the perfect viewing post and always does for this event. The Fourth of July fireworks take place from Ogunquit Beach parking lot and extend over the ocean on July 4, 2019 at 9:00 PM. I would check with the Ogunquit Chamber to make sure that time is correct. Finestkind Scenic Tours (207-646-5227) has three boats that will take the public close to Ogunquit Beach for a spectacular view. The tour boats leave from Barnacle Billy’s dock between 8:00 and 8:30 PM. Reservations are required. The closing day for Barnacle Billy’s (Original), October 27, 2019, occurs on the same day that the High Heel Race is run (usually around 3:00 PM) on Ogunquitfest Sunday. That is lot of fun. And our own emcee, Jimmy Lucibello, who owns Bourne Bed & Breakfast (B3 – 207-646-3891) has made this an event to attend. He is just the best. And what better way to end the season than to have a rum punch on the patio at Barnacle Billy’s, listen to Jimmy and watch a bizarre event at the same time!
